He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge,, taking the degree of B.A. in 1804 and M.A. in 1807; became rector of Morton, Essex, in 1822, also of Westmill, Hertfordshire, in 1827, and prebendary of [[Wells]] in 1836. In 1840 he was consecrated bishop of Sodor and Man, and was translated to the see of [[Worcester]] in 1841. He died at Hartleybury Castle, Worcestershire, November 13, 1860. See Amer. Quar.
