He became pastor of the New South, Church, Boston, in 1818, but was soon compelled, on account of his health, to go to Europe. He returned in 1821, and passed several years in Baltimore, where he became editor of the Unitarian Miscellany. In 1824 he was made associate minister of King's Chapel, Boston, and, after 1827, pastor. In 1837-38 he was associate editor of the [[Christian]] Examiner, to which he was an able and frequent contributor for many years. He died August 2, 1843. Dr. Greenwood was a man of rare.gifts; an eloquent preacher, and a very accomplished writer.
