In 1760 he was called to the pastorate at Neustadt- Magdeburg, and in 1768 to Gottingen. In 1770 he was appointed general superintendent and first pastor at Clausthal, but five years later he accepted a call to Hamburg, where he died, August 12, 1777. Besides a number of sermons, he published Specimen Inaugurale Theologicum de Virtute vere Christiana (Kiel, 1776; Germ. transl. by Thiess, Hamburg, 1779).
