He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1790; in 1792 was appointed tutor in the same university; preached his first sermon at Zion's Church, Philadelphia, in 1793; in 1795 was elected principal of the Congregational school of Zion and St. Michael; in 1801 resigned and removed to Easton, having accepted a call to the Lutheran Church in that place, and while there preached frequently to neighboring congregations.
