<p> (Lat. capa, Fr. chape), a sort of cloak, forming part of the sacerdotal vestments in the [[Roman]] Church. It was formerly worn by the clergy of the [[Church]] of [[England]] during divine service, but has fallen into disuse, except on such occasions as a coronation. It reaches from the neck nearly to the feet, and is open in front, except at the top, where it is fastened by a band or clasp.
