a Presbyterian minister, was born near Carlisle, Pa., 'Oct. 11. 1825. He was educated at the New Bloomfield Academy, graduated from Marshall College, Mercersburg, Pa., in 1848, and. studied in the Western Theological Seminary at Allegheny.
