Calhoun, a Congregational minister was born in Massachusetts, graduated from Williams College in 1812, and spent a part of one year in Andover Theological Seminary. He was ordained April 13,1824; was pastor at Richmond Street Church, Providence, R. I., in that and the following year; stated supply at various places from 1825 to 1831; principal of an academy at Greenwich, Conn., until 1835, and without .charge at Suffield until his death there, Feb. 19, 1837.
