He studied at [[Bristol]] College, and, having offered himself for service in [[Baptist]] missions, was ordained in January, 1814, after which he sailed to India, and, with two others, founded the [[Calcutta]] mission as distinguished from the Serampore mission. His health failing, he returned to [[England]] in 1825, and was employed as the traveling agent of the Baptist Missionary Society. His chief literary work is the Life of his uncle, Dr. Carey.
