The Horites (troglodytes or inhabitants of caves, probably excavators of the remarkable ones near Petra) inhabited mount Seir (the thickly bushy, or rugged, shaggy) before Esau's invasion ( Genesis 14:6; Deuteronomy 2:12; Deuteronomy 2:22; Job 30:6-7).
