Γαί , Vulg. simply Vallis), a place (probably marked by a spring) opposite the hill Ammah, on the road to the "wilderness (east?) of Gibeon," where Joab and Abishai ceased at sun-down from the pursuit of Abner after the death of Asahel ( 1 Samuel 2:24). gı̄´a ( גּיח , gı̄aḥ ): An unidentified place on the route followed by Abner in his flight, pursued by Joab ( 2 Samuel 2:24 ). Septuagint renders Gaı́ , corresponding to the Hebrew gē , "valley." The form gı̄aḥ may be due to corruption of the text.
