He was compelled to leave Yale [[College]] in his senior year on account of the death of his parents. He was ordained deacon Feb. 24, 1788, and priest June 5, 1793. For three years after his ordination he preached in North Haven and its neighborhood; and then was assistant minister to the Rev.
