<p> a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at Montville, Conn., June 11, 1797. He experienced religion early in life, and in 1826 entered the travelling connection of the Oneida Conference. In this relation he labored until his death, Feb. 7, 1860. Mr. Atwell excelled as a pastor; visiting the lowly, warning the ungodly, comforting the poor and distressed, and enlightening the doubting. He was a man of warm affections. sound common sense, and well versed in theology. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1860, p. 167. </p>
