He was also regius professor in, and librarian of, the University of Dublin; treasurer and precentor of St. Patrick's Cathedral, and president for five years (the usual term) of the [[Royal]] Irish Academy. He was one of the founders of the Irish Archaeological Society. His death took place June 28, 1869.
