Benjamin P. Smith [1]
a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Hardin County, Tenn., Oct. 28, 1830. He was brought into the Church in 1848, and admitted into the Tennessee Conference in 1857. During the year 1862 he enlisted in the Confederate army and was killed at Jackson, Tenn., July 13, 1863. "He was a man of sound judgment, deep piety, and a promising preacher."
