He graduated from [[Pennsylvania]] [[College]] in 1839, after which he was a tutor there, and for a short time studied at the [[Gettysburg]] Theological Seminary. In 1841 he was licensed to preach, and that year was pastor in Reading, Pennsylvania. For a time he preached in Chambersburg, and in 1852 became pastor of St. James's Church, New York city. He disappeared mysteriously during a mental disturbance, as a result of impaired physical health, October 29, 1865. See Pennsylvania College Yearbook, 1882, page 208. </p>
