His father sent him to the best schools in Spain, and his precocity attracting the attention of [[Philip]] II, he was admitted to the privy council of that monarch. While in Flanders, somewhat later, he was made ambassador to [[Clement]] VIII, and received in 1602 the bishopric of Arras. He was afterwards prior of Morteau, and in 1610 was made archbishop of Cambrai, which office he held till his death, Feb. 28, 1614. Jean Richardot [1]
a French prelate, was born at Arras in the 16th century. His father sent him to the best schools in Spain, and his precocity attracting the attention of Philip II, he was admitted to the privy council of that monarch. While in Flanders, somewhat later, he was made ambassador to Clement VIII, and received in 1602 the bishopric of Arras.
