Samuel Munson [1]
a Congregational minister, was born March 23, 1804, at New Sharon, Me. He graduated at Bowdoin College in 1829; and having entered the ministry with the intention of becoming a missionary, offered his services to the American Board, and was sent with the Reverend Henry Lyman to Sumatra and the neighboring isles. They sailed for Batavia June 10, 1833, in which place they remained until April, 1834, when they sailed to Nyas, thence to Tappanooly.
