He became successively professor of philosophy and, in 1653, professor of theology. As such he took part in the Colloquy of [[Cassel]] in 1661. In 1663 he was appointed professor at Helmstadt, and in 1665 accepted a call in the same capacity to the newly established University of Kiel. He died in 1671.
