<p> an eminent Anglican divine of the Reformatory period, And one of the most learned men of his day, was a native of Pocklington, Yorkshire. He was ordained priest March 8, 1420. He took his doctor's degree at Cambridge, and is said to have been a member of [[Clare]] Hall, in that university; but however that may be, certain it is that in 1443 he was appointed the provost of King's College. This important position, however, he voluntarily resigned in 1446, on a point of conscience. The oft-repeated statement that he was deprived of the provostship for unduly favoring natives of [[Yorkshire]] is without foundation. It is said that on leaving King's he retired to Clare Hall. He died in May 1466, and was buried in St. Edward's Church, Cambridge. An interesting memoir of Dr. Millington, by [[George]] Williams, B.D., was communicated to the [[Cambridge]] Antiquarian [[Society]] in 1858. </p>
