He was educated at Maryville College, Tennessee; studied divinity in the South-western Theological Seminary at Maryville; was licensed in 1825, and ordained in 1826 as pastor of [[Westminster]] Church, Tennessee. In 1838 he received and accepted a call to the charge of [[Salem]] and New Market, Tennesee; became a member of the United [[Synod]] at its organization in 1857, and died May 5, 1863. Dr. Minnis was a man of extraordinary energy, thorough in the investigation of every subject, clear in the illustration of the deepest thought, and truly in earnest in the conversion of souls. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1867, page 446. </p>
