(Heb. Kishyon', קַשְׁיוֹן , so called from the Hardness of the soil; Sept. Κεσιών ;, Auth. Vers. "Kishon" in Joshua 21:28), a city of the tribe of Issachar ( Joshua 19:20, where it is mentioned between Rabbith and Abez), assigned to the Levites of the family of Gershom, and for a place of refuge ( Joshua 21:28); elsewhere ( 1 Chronicles 6:72) called KEDESH (See Kedesh) (q.v.).
