He had in 1810 been appointed a delegate to the [[Vermont]] Association, of which he remained a member all his life. He also made several missionary tours, aside from his regular pastoral duties. Mr. Kendrick had early interested him. self in the subject of foreign missions, and when, in 1813i the Baptist General Convention for the [[Promotion]] of [[Missions]] was established, he immediately advocated an auxiliary in his own state, and it-was formed. He was elected first vice-president, and in 1817 became its corresponding secretary, which office he held until his death. In 1819 he received the honorary degree of M.A. from the Middlebury College. He was chiefly instrumental in forming the Baptist [[Education]] Society of the State of Vermont, of which he was chosen president, and afterwards appointed agent.
