GUNI. 1. The eponym of a Naphtalite family, Genesis 46:24 = 1 Chronicles 7:13 (cf. Numbers 26:48 where the gentilic Gunites occurs). 2. A Gadite chief ( 1 Chronicles 5:15 ). Probably we should also read ‘the Gunite’ for ‘ Jonathan ’ in 2 Samuel 23:32; and for ‘the Gizonite ’ in 1 Chronicles 11:34 .
