His superiors entrusted him with the preparation of a new edition of St. Basil, and the result of his labors was one of the best ever produced at St. Maur: Scti. Patris nostri Basilii [[Opera]] (Paris, Coignard). The preface is a remarkable production. Garnier, howeverwas able to complete but two volumes. Maran, who continued the work after the death of Garnier, brought out the third and last in 1730.
