He studied at St. John's College, Cambridge, and subsequently obtained the rectorship of Brightwell, Berkshire, and the deanery of Bocking. In 1660 be became bishop of Exeter, and was translated to [[Worcester]] in 1662, "much disappointed at missing the lucrative see of Winchester." He died in the same year.
