<p> a German theologian, brother of the preceding, was born at Ulm December 30, 1670, and died March 2, 1739. After studying at the gymnasium of his native city he went to the University of Leipsic, where he applied himself especially to theology, and at an early date took part in editing the Acta Eruditorum. In 1698 he was named archdeacon of Ilmenau, but, owing to bad health, could not perform the duties. After his recovery he was appointed pastor at Pfuhl. In 1701 he went to Munster as preacher, and in 1712 was called to the chair of theology there.
