He entered the order of St. Augustine, taught theology at the University of Alcala, and published a [[Cursus]] Theologice (1732-38, 5 volumes, 4to). He afterwards devoted himself exclusively to historical.studies, and died at [[Madrid]] in May or August 1773. He wrote, Clave Historial (1743): La Espana Sagrada (1747-49), a vast compilation of local ecclesiastical history, which obtained a European reputation, and of which twenty-nine volumes appeared in the author's lifetime, and others by later hands at subsequent dates: and other works of less importance.
