He studied at Wittenberg, under Luther and Melanchthon, in 1544 became rector at Coin, in Brandenburg, in 1555 superintendent at 'his native place, in 1562 first courtpreacher at Schleswig, and in 1576 professor at the gymnasium there. He refused to sign the [[Formula]] Concordie, which caused him much trouble. In 1593 he resigned his offices, and died February 25, 1598.
