During the war he served as a private in the Confederate army. In 1872 he was elected secretary of his conference, which he continued to be until his death, May 18, 1889. a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Russell County, Alabama, November 15, 1840. He joined the Alabama Conference in 1860. During the war he served as a private in the Confederate army. In 1872 he was elected secretary of his conference, which he continued to be until his death, May 18, 1889. He was a member of the General Conference of his church in 1882 and 1886. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M.E. Church, South, 1889, page 114.
