After having been master of theology at the grand seminary of St. [[Nicholas]] du Chardonnaet, he was appointed superior of the seminary of St. Marcellus. From this he passed to the diocese of Boulogne, when he was made rector of Wimille. Cossart fell into official difficulties, and was obliged to retire to the Netherlands, where he found his bishop, who had already preceded him. The invasion of the [[Netherlands]] by the French again driving them north, Cossart went to Dtisseldorf. He died in 1830. While at Dusseldorf he published the Memoir du Clerge, a new edition of which appeared at [[Lyons]] and [[Paris]] in 1824.
