He died in June, 1768. In the latter part of his life he became involved in a controversy with the Rev. Samuel Webster of Salisbury, concerning the doctrine of original sin, and displayed no ordinary skill in dealing with the subject. His preaching was energetic in denunciation and pathetic in appeal.
