He was carefully trained by his parents, and when about twenty-one joined the Church, engaged in village preaching and soon after entered [[Hackney]] College. At the close of his college course he accepted a call to Lundfield, Sussex, where he labored until 1842, then removed to Newton Abbott. and there remained till 1864. Chater, John (2),
an English Congregational minister, was born at Coventry, Feb. 16,1805. He was carefully trained by his parents, and when about twenty-one joined the Church, engaged in village preaching and soon after entered Hackney College. At the close of his college course he accepted a call to Lundfield, Sussex, where he labored until 1842, then removed to Newton Abbott. and there remained till 1864.
