an eminent French painter, was born in Paris in 1676, and studied under Houasse, and subsequently in the school of Bon Boullongne. He obtained the grand prize at the academy in 1699, and in 1704 was elected a royal academician. There are many of his works to be seen at Paris, in the Church of Notre Dame, in the college of the Jesuits, at the House of Charity, etc. At St. Germain-des-Pres he represented the lives of St. Germain and St. Vincent.
