In 1836, on the formation of the [[Michigan]] Conference, he became a member of it. In 1842 he located for a better literary preparation, and in 1845 resumed his place in the active ranks. He died July 28, i877. Mr. Burns possessed a muscular, robust frame, which in his young manhood he had developed at his occupation as blacksmith. He also had high intellectual endowments.
