<p> a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Ferrisburgh, Vt., July 1, 181. He was converted at the age of fifteen, and in 1833 entered the Ohio Conference. In 1836, on the formation of the [[Michigan]] Conference, he became a member of it. In 1842 he located for a better literary preparation, and in 1845 resumed his place in the active ranks. He died July 28, i877. Mr. Burns possessed a muscular, robust frame, which in his young manhood he had developed at his occupation as blacksmith. He also had high intellectual endowments. He was naturally cheerful, thoroughly pious, and energetic. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, i877, p. 105. </p>
