He was ordained October 17, 1821, as pastor of the [[Church]] at Smithfield, N.Y., where he remained for more than eight years. His second pastorate was with the Church at Augusta, Oneida County, where he had a most fruitful ministry for fifteen years. He was pastor of six different churches between the years 1830 and 1850.
