He graduated at [[Brown]] University in 1794, and was pastor of the churches in the following places: York, Maine, from 1797 to 1805; Boxford, Massachusetts, from 1805 to 1830; New Rochester, Massachusetts, from 1835 to 1858. He died at East Morrisania, N.Y., February 22, 1862. Mr. Briggs was a pious and faithful servant of his Master. See Cong. Quarterly, 1862, page 388. </p>
