a Baptist minister, united with the Baptist Church at Antigonish, N. S., at sixteen; studied at Horton Academy; went to the United States, where he remained seven years, and studied there a part of that time; commenced to preach in Nova Scotia in 1857, was ordained at Guysborough in September. 1859, and from that time till near his death he preached around the eastern and southern portions of that province.
