| <p> Bell, [[William]] (5), </p> <p> an English Wesleyan missionary, was born at Lowth, Lincolnshire. His zeal and steadfastness when a local preacher, as well as his bodily vigor, induced the conference to send him upon his entering the itinerancy in 1822 as a missionary on the River Gambia, West Africa. [[Shortly]] after his arrival he was assailed with a violent fever, which occasioned his death, March 15, 1822, aged twenty-seven.
