He received a careful religious training; experienced conversion at the age of twenty; was class leader during the following ten years, when he was licensed to preach, and served the [[Church]] on several circuits, and in 1852 was sent to work among the Indians, on the Montello mission. In 1858 he was received into the West [[Wisconsin]] Conference, and did valiant work until his death, Aug. 31, 1864. Mr. Bassinger was a very laborious and successful minister.
