He graduated from [[Brown]] University in 1858, and from the Newton Theological [[Institution]] in 1861; was ordained December 25 of the same year pastor at South Danvers (now Peabody), Massachusetts, and in 1865 became pastor of the First [[Church]] at Newport, R.I. He died there, December 26, 1883. Besides articles for reviews and papers, Dr. [[Barrows]] published several sermons and addresses. See R.I. Biog. Encyclop. pages 531. (J.C.S.) </p>
