<p> D.D., an English divine, was born about 1745, and was early remarkable for his acuteness and aptitude for learning. He was educated at Eton and at [[Cambridge]] University. In the latter place he resided during the rest of his life, his position there being master of St. Peter's [[College]] and professor of casuistry. He died in 1838. D.D., an English divine, was born about 1745, and was early remarkable for his acuteness and aptitude for learning. He was educated at Eton and at Cambridge University. In the latter place he resided during the rest of his life, his position there being master of St. Peter's College and professor of casuistry. He died in 1838. Dr. Barnes was considered one of the best Greek scholars of his day. See (Lond.) Christian Remembrancer, Oct. 1838, p. 634.
