Bail-Hanan [1]

(Hebrews Ba'al Chanan', בִּעִל חָנָן Lord Of Grace, or Baal is Gracious), the name of two men.

1. (Sept. Βαλλαενών and Βαλαεννών v. r. Βαλλενών and Βαλαεννώρ .) An early king of Edom, son of Achbor, successor of Saul, and succeeded by Hadar ( Genesis 36:38-39;  1 Chronicles 1:49-50). B.C. prob. ante 1619.

2. (Sept. Βαλλανάν v. r. Βαλλανά .) A Gederite, royal overseer of "the olive-trees and sycamore-trees in the low plains" under David ( 1 Chronicles 27:28). B.C. 1014. From his name we may conjecture that he was of Canaanitish extraction.
