<p> a Presbyterian minister, was born at Peebles, Scotland, in April, 1769.. He received a classical education at Edinburgh, and was ordained to the work of the ministry at Paisley. In 1793 he came, to America, and having preached for some time in New York and Albany, he was installed pastor of the Presbyterian [[Church]] at Pequea, Pa., which position he held for more than twenty years.
