At the age of eighteen he enlisted as a soldier, and served two years, when he again resumed his trade; was converted, joined the [[Wesleyans]] and went to preaching. Jeremiah Argyle [1]

an English Congregational minister, was born at Dorchester in 1782, and brought up to the trade of a white-smith. At the age of eighteen he enlisted as a soldier, and served two years, when he again resumed his trade; was converted, joined the Wesleyans and went to preaching.
