Aditi and Kasyapa are the parents of Indra, the first of the twelve Adityas. The latter were pressed hard by the sons of the giants in a frightful war. Aditi asked her husband what she should do. He advised her to bringaan offering to the honor of Vishnu, who would be born as her Son, and would annihilate the giants: It happened so; and thus Aditi gave birth to [[Vishnu]] in the person of the dwarf Vamana. </p>
