a French theologian, was born in Paris in 1527. He became a Dominican, or Frere Precheur, and commendatory abbot of Notre Dame-de-Livry, in the Aunoy (a district in the ile de France). For three years he was vicar- general of his congregation, and was also preacher and confessor to the queen Catherine de Medicis.
