2. The son of Joseph and father of Mattathias in our Lord's genealogy ( Luke 3:26, v.r. Σεμεείν ) , probably SHEMAIAH (See Shemaiah) (q.v.), the son of Shechaniah and father of Neariah ( 1 Chronicles 3:22).
