Hawker's Poor Man's Concordance And Dictionary [1]
The city of the book or letters. This was the portion which Joshua assigned to Caleb, and it was called Debir before. See Joshua 14:6-7 and Judges 1:10-13. What the ancient inhabitants meant by the name of Debir, meaning words, is not so generally understood. Some have thought it had relation to certain records deposited there, but there is not the smallest authority for this opinion.
Smith's Bible Dictionary [2]
Kir'jath-se'pher. (City Of Books). Joshua 15:15-16; Judges 1:11-12. See Debir .
