Deuteronomy 22:8 (c) The thought of the passage is that we are to seek to establish preventive measures or ample protection around the church, the people of GOD, and the testimony of our Lord. In this way there will not be a mingling of Christians with the unsaved and no mixture of the Christian program with the world's plans and schemes.

Jeremiah 5:10 (b) We understand from this that the world puts up barriers to prevent the Word of GOD from being preached to them, and to prevent the people of GOD from teaching the Word to them.

Smith's Bible Dictionary [2]

Battlement. Among the Jews, a battlement was required, by law, to be built upon every house. It consisted of a low wall built around the roofs of the houses to prevent persons from falling off, and sometimes serving as a partition from another building.  Deuteronomy 22:8;  Jeremiah 5:10.
