Morrish Bible Dictionary [1]

Descendants of Hebron the son of Kohath. They were a numerous and important Levitical family. On the west of the Jordan Hashabiah and his brethren, 1700 'men of valour,' were officers of Israel; and on the east, Jerijah and his brethren, 2700 'mighty men of valour,' were over the two and a half tribes.  Numbers 3:27;  Numbers 26:58;  1 Chronicles 26:23,30-32 .
